From my first visit to the Philadephia Zoo
I have been in love with this beautiful place.
The Philadephia Zoo opened July 1, 1874 establishing
itself as the nation's very first zoo.
The zoo has suffered financially the past few years.
Many of the people who work there are volunteers.
They suffered a great loss on December 24, 1995, when their
Primate House was destroyed by fire.
Killing most of the primates.
The pictures you will see on your virtual tour are
all photos I have taken myself on my many
trips to the zoo. Included are pictures of some
of the primates that died in this tragic fire.
If you are ever in the Philadelphia area,
please be sure to visit
this great zoo.
If you are able, please send a donation
to help this zoo stay open. The address is:
